Hadley:

Hi lovebugs. This month we're watching movies about dolls coming to the real world. First up is the Disney Channel original movie Life Size. After her mother's death, casey does a resurrection spell to try and bring her back, but her spell goes awry and she accidentally brings her new Eve doll to life instead.

Sarah:

It was so difficult to watch this movie. It is not streaming anywhere, so we had to buy it on DVD, and most laptops, i don't think, have CD players anymore.

Hadley:

No, and I just recently sent my external one back with my mom because I'm like I don't need it. Oh, you did, Whoops.

Sarah:

Did you have to get a new one?

Hadley:

No, I watched it on my Xbox, which I'd never used, so I had to update, which took a while. Then I had to download something to actually watch it.

Sarah:

So I had to use my external CD player to watch it, but then I also had to download an app on my computer to actually play the DVD. A lot of work to watch this movie.

Hadley:

You can get a packaged DVD with Life Size and get a clue, so you might want to look into it, because if you have something to play DVD, it's worth it.

Sarah:

And we'll probably do get a clue eventually also.

Hadley:

There is a sequel of Life Size starring and produced by Tyra Banks. It was on Freeform in 2018. Lindsay Lohan was not in it, but there is a picture of her showing in the movie and her character was talked about throughout the movie a few times.

Sarah:

And it's a Christmas movie. First of all, this movie is square. It's that old. That's crazy.

Hadley:

And also probably because it was a TV movie, that's so weird. All the square TVs back in the day.

Sarah:

There's a lot of nostalgia in this movie, like malls.

Hadley:

Just like the dolls too. I haven't played with Barbie type dolls for a long time, and that was a big part of my life when I was little, so it's kind of like, oh, i remember all this kind of stuff.

Sarah:

I was more into brats. I had one brats doll. Oh, I had a lot of brats dolls.

Hadley:

I had a lot of Barbie dolls. My cousin had Barbies. That might be what led me into it, because she's five years older, so I'd play with her and her stuff. I also had American Girl Dolls. I just wanted an American Girl doll. I never got one, though.

Sarah:

I wonder if they'll make a brats movie like this Barbie movie that's coming out soon, because I think it'd be so funny. You know the scene in the trailer where she like steps out of the shoe and her foot is still posed with brats It would be like a little nub, because their shoes popped on to their ankle. They didn't have feet. Oh, actually that would be a really good way to cast people with disabilities. It's also disability pride month, oh.

Hadley:

I didn't realize that Lindsay Lohan didn't have to audition for this movie. This role is a three part picture contract. I'm thinking it was Get a Clue and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

Sarah:

I feel like she was closer in age in this one to Parent Trap than Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. I feel like she was older for that one.

Hadley:

Well, that came out in 2004. Get a Clue came out in 2002 and this came out in 2000.

Sarah:

Oh, then maybe those were the three movies.

Hadley:

Oh Making Foxes. And Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

Sarah:

Yes.

Hadley:

I have to watch that. She's the mean girl?

Sarah:

Of course she is. Actually she plays a very similar character to the one she plays in Jennifer's body, aside from the whole like demon thing. But how is a teenage girl?

Hadley:

So there you go. The movie opens on an ad for an Eve doll.

Sarah:

I love this song. It's on my morning playlist.

Hadley:

I don't think I've heard it outside of this movie ever. It's a good song. It is a good song.

Sarah:

It's a good affirmation song.

Hadley:

The Toy Store in the movie is named Caboodles and they actually filmed it at a Toy Store named Caboodles in Vancouver, so this was like the real store on the street, which was kind of cool.

Sarah:

I like that Eve is from a place called Sunnyvale, where the sun always shines.

Hadley:

Some kids are looking in the window at the Toy Store and one of them says I don't want a doll, I want something with microchips. I thought that made me laugh So funny. Also, when the credits were playing, it said editor Bonnie Kohler. And I know Bonnie Kohler and I didn't know she worked on this movie. So that was a fun surprise.

Sarah:

Like you, know her, know her.

Hadley:

Yeah, she's a family friend.

Sarah:

Oh, ask her if she has any fun facts.

Hadley:

I will.

Sarah:

Lindsay Lohan plays Casey Stewart.

Hadley:

She's kind of angry, but she has a lot of reasons to be angry, so Yes, she's an angsty preteen, i would say. Her mother passed away, so she's got a little more stuff going on than some of her classmates seem to have and understand.

Sarah:

And her dad doesn't seem to be making time for her, which, like now, would be especially important since her mom just died.

Hadley:

It feels like he wants to make time for her but then also, where he's at in his career, it's really difficult to make time And that's just a bad situation to be stuck in, because then, like you have to keep your job, keep your kid fed and functioning, but you also need to spend time with your kid. I couldn't tell how long the mom had been gone.

Sarah:

I couldn't tell either, but I was thinking it was like a few months to a year, like it seemed relatively recent.

Hadley:

Well, i know his friend said that it was probably time for him to start moving on and like that, the wife would have been happy for him to go find love again.

Sarah:

The reason I thought it wasn't very long of a time was because one of the other little girls her age calls her a loner, and someone else in the group says basically the same thing that Lily said in Princess Diaries, like get over it already. And in Princess Diaries it was only like three months, So I was putting it in the same timeframe as that because I feel like kids just don't understand grief if they haven't been through it. So they're like why are you still upset about this?

Hadley:

I agree. But also, Lindsay Lohan learned to play football for this movie. Oh really, Mm-hmm. She said it was really hard. She also said that she had a really hard time getting in the mindset for this character, Casey, because she hadn't had a loss like that when she did this role.

Sarah:

That makes sense, i feel like you don't really understand that type of loss until you go through it. Yeah, casey looks up resurrection spells on her computer, but her dad interrupts and comes in to tuck her in to bed.

Hadley:

He says what are you doing? And she says oh nothing, just surfing. And I was like do people actually say that?

Sarah:

Maybe in the odds. Maybe Casey asks if everything happens for a reason and her dad responds sometimes things just happen. Off to a real depressing start here.

Hadley:

Yes, But I did like that answer because I think it's really hard when it's like well, things happen for a reason. Okay, what was the reason My parents gone?

Sarah:

It sounds like Casey only went to see a therapist one time and he definitely should have made her go more. One therapy session does not help you fully process your parents' death, especially since he was working so much Like. If he can't be there to emotionally support her through this, then hire someone to Casey goes book shopping and runs into her friends, which we talked about.

Hadley:

But I liked that one of them just kind of brushes off other friends and runs up to Casey and still invites her to come do things.

Sarah:

In the bookstore the spellbook that Casey gets. the cover looks really old, but when she opens it and starts looking at the actual spell, the pages look so new They did I feel like it would not be that difficult to make pages look older.

Hadley:

Well, it sounds like they didn't put a whole lot of effort into some of this, because one of the facts I ran across was that Look up the wording. Ok, the car's license plates have very crude modifications. They're actually British Columbia plates. They say beautiful British Columbia, which is because they filmed in Vancouver. But they were Americanized by replacing British Columbia with Evergreen State, which is Washington. But the plate design is still British Columbia and even has the British Columbia flag on it. So I feel like details weren't their strongest point, wasn't?

Sarah:

their focus. It's Casey's birthday and her dad is filming her with a video camera. This was also a sign of the times. She blows out her double chocolate cake candles and says she wished for her mom to come back.

Hadley:

They talk about the Super Bowl that they all went to together, which I thought was nice to talk about, a good time they all had together. But he doesn't seem super into wanting to talk about that.

Sarah:

The dad's co-worker, Drew, who clearly has a crush on him, shows up and barges in with a doll for Casey.

Hadley:

She got her an Eve doll because this was around the age that Drew started collecting dolls.

Sarah:

This is very annoying when people buy gifts that they would have wanted at a certain age, instead of something that is relevant to the child that you're actually buying a gift for.

Hadley:

It seems like she might not know Casey that well, though, so she might just be grasping, because she even admits she's like oh, that didn't go over well.

Sarah:

I mean, if you're trying to win over a man who has a child, you should probably take an interest in that child. Casey seemed like more of an afterthought to her.

Hadley:

She did invite Casey and the dad over earlier for dinner. But I mean, if the mom only died two months ago, she might not have gotten to spend a lot of time with Casey either.

Sarah:

Drew says this doll is a collector's item, but she immediately took it out of the box.

Hadley:

And she also says it has a unique identification number, but all the dolls shown in the movie have the same identification number.

Sarah:

And Drew ends up brushing this doll's hair.

Hadley:

That felt a little excessive, especially because the brush that she brushes it with looks really special.

Sarah:

I know they had to do it for the plot, but it's a collector's item, according to whoever wrote this.

Hadley:

There were a few afterthoughts, it seems, in this movie.

Sarah:

I also didn't like when Drew went into Casey's room and knocked everything over.

Hadley:

She went up when Casey was trying to do her reincarnation spell and interrupted it. And then I was like, oh, look at this. And pulled stuff off the shelf. That's clearly super cluttered. Don't touch stuff that isn't yours. Point to it. I mean like, oh, that's cool, what's that for? And then Casey wants to get it down and show you. Then touch it if she offers it to you. I don't know. I just didn't like Drew, i didn't like her at work either.

Sarah:

I was like girl, focus on your job. Like she is fawning over Ben at all times. And also I didn't like when later she was talking about Eve to Richie at their work party and she's like how's a girl supposed to compete with that? I was like maybe I don't see it as a competition.

Hadley:

You don't have to compete Against other people or maybe the guy you're interested in just isn't interested in you. We find out that this resurrection spell will only work once. That seems like a weird caveat. It does, but maybe it's so you don't create an army of undead situation.

Sarah:

If the spell can only work once per person, who does the spell, which is how I'm interpreting that, and she knows it works, she could have her dad do it to bring her mom back. That should have been the sequel.

Hadley:

Or she could have had Eve do it. I don't know if her dad would go for it.

Sarah:

Probably not, but still she could have someone else do it, since she already wasted her one spell.

Hadley:

She's got five friends, bring them over.

Sarah:

Have a little sleepover silence. Let's bring some dead people back. Bring your mom back.

Hadley:

Casey falls asleep doing her incantations and wakes up and Tyra Banks is in her bed because Eve came to life.

Sarah:

I love this outfit she's wearing.

Hadley:

I do too. The costume designer, maya Manny, said it was a joy to work with Tyra because she knows how to wear clothes. No matter what we put on her, she could carry it off, and I'd believe it.

Sarah:

Well, she is a model. Eve is fascinated by technology like the radio and TV, and also smells when they're out on the street.

Hadley:

I love when she came to life too, and she's like what happened to my purse. She's fascinated by the smells And I thought that was cool because it's something you never think of. Oh yeah, doll wouldn't have smelled. Doll doesn't know what tears are.

Sarah:

I love that she talks to the man on the street about littering Me too. She says this is everyone's home, Please keep it clean. I'm gonna start saying that I hate when people litter I do too, dries McCrazy, when people litter. I'm still so shocked anytime I see someone like throw trash out of their car window. Same The guy calls her the litter police. Dad finds the spell book and sees the price sticker.

Hadley:

And he goes to find Casey and Casey has sent Eve into the bookstore to buy the second book that has the and her life spell, and Or the reverse spell, yeah, the reverse spell.

Sarah:

The counter spell Casey's gonna go around killing people.

Hadley:

Or just turning them all into dolls. That's a horror movie right there. That's actually a great idea.

Sarah:

They really missed out on these possible sequels. Casey could have gone further into her depression and just gone around turning everyone into dolls. That was mean to her. I was gonna say her friends, but they weren't mean.

Hadley:

I guess No. When they're talking about the book, Eve says that doesn't sound like a bedtime story and Casey says it is for you.

Sarah:

That cracked me up. This movie had some really funny lines.

Hadley:

It really did. Casey runs away, runs into the street, trips and falls in front of a truck. Eve stands up, puts her arm out with her hand up to stop the truck And then when the dad is like thank you, she says oh, it was nothing, i've been a police officer.

Sarah:

Also, though, this truck was literally at the other end of the street when she fell. It was so far away. They had so much time to react to her being on the ground. It's like that truck from um. Oh my God, the witch one was Sandra Bullock, practical magic.

Hadley:

All these truck drivers in these movies need to learn how to use the brakes. Eve flirts with the dad, Ben, and Casey passes out. And back at the house, Casey comes to and she screams And I realized that Lindsay Lohan does this kind of scream a lot.

Sarah:

I literally just watched the parent trap like two days ago at the lake And she does this exact scream.

Hadley:

That's exactly what I was thinking of. It was like parent trap.

Sarah:

When I was watching the parent trap, my friends and I were talking about doing the parent trap for Halloween because one of the girls that I'm friends with she would be perfect as Meredith Blake and she wants to dress up as her on the hike and carry around a water bottle with a lizard on it. I love that Same And I was like I'll be Chessie, because I basically already have all those clothes, since Chessie looks like a lesbian. Honestly, as I was rewatching that movie now that I'm out, i was like they really made Chessie and Martin seem gay. Wait, who's?

Hadley:

Martin The butler.

Sarah:

Oh, so it's funny that they end up together. I feel like they both give off by energy.

Hadley:

I could see that It's been a long time since I saw that movie.

Sarah:

Ben offers Eva ride and she says let's go to the mall. Eve is so fascinated by the car. She says she has an orange car at home but you have to push it. I like that. orange to her is like pink to Barbie Me too. Also. when Eve got on the escalator it reminded me of Buddy the elf. Oh, i've got to rewatch that movie. It's been a while. He does the same like splits thing, climbing on the escalator.

Hadley:

I wonder if that is what people do when they ride the escalator for the first time, or if that's like a movie thing. Yeah, i wonder. Need to find someone who's never been on an escalator, So at the mall that's trying to find out more about Eve, but he offers to loan money and for her to crash at the guest house. I was concerned about Ben just offering money to some stranger and letting them crash at their house.

Sarah:

It's like mmm, a very nice guy, A very nice guy, but also this could go very badly When Eve goes shopping the green jacket that she grabs I love Me too. It's like a plasticky lime green. She wears it later.

Hadley:

I love the outfit montage. I always, always, love a good outfit montage in these movies. Here's where we could have had a wig montage, because she clearly gets wigs too, and I would love that. Like trying on all the different ones. She buys a lot of stuff. The dad's like, oh, maybe I should not have offered to buy her stuff.

Sarah:

When they do this montage of all her outfits, she says to Casey, dress me. She also refers to herself in third person a lot in this movie. I like all of her little sayings too, because she says to a woman wearing a fur coat you should love animals, not wear them. They go to dinner, Yes.

Hadley:

And she's super into the bread And butter.

Sarah:

She just eats the little slices of butter.

Hadley:

Also, her ring is huge. I realized in the scene. I was like, oh, she could sell that to pay Ben back if she ever had to.

Sarah:

And then Ben hires her as a secretary.

Hadley:

Yes, because she says back home she was a secretary. She's been a doctor, a police officer. It sounds like she worked on a spaceship. She's multi-talented.

Sarah:

And then she says that her real passion is helping girls By presenting a positive image of womanhood, which is great. I love that sentiment. It just seemed so funny for her to say it Like the way she said. It just seemed so out of place or like really cheesy.

Hadley:

I like that. One of the themes in this movie was taking it. So Eve didn't have to be perfect, but showing the image of someone not always being perfect all the time is important. She tells Ben that he's the most interesting guy she's ever met. What she doesn't realize is and there are not a lot of people to compare it to- He says she needs to get out more and I agree.

Sarah:

Yes, he's fine, he's like middle of the road, nothing special, nothing special. Exactly The orange nightgown that Eve wears in the pool house while watching TV is so 90s odds, Like it looks like the pink and blue dresses that Romeo and Michelle wear in Romeo and Michelle's High School reunion. Oh it does, Oh it does.

Hadley:

It makes me think of something like Elle Woods would have to.

Sarah:

Yes, i'm glad this fashion is coming back. Me too It's so fun. It is.

Hadley:

Casey finds that the book she needs is due back in one week and she only has three more days before the spell becomes permanent. But Casey goes and tells her dad about bringing Eve to life and he's in denial.

Sarah:

He doesn't believe her.

Hadley:

so she says she'll prove it And she finds the certificate of authenticity but doesn't really know what that is, so later has to go find that out.

Sarah:

Eve meets Ellen at work the next day.

Hadley:

Ellen says to Eve where are you from? And Eve says Sunnyvale and Ellen says what state is that in? Eve says the Sunshine State and Ellen goes oh, florida. Eve deletes all the files at work and Richie comes by and just undoes that really quickly, thank goodness, yeah, really.

Sarah:

She was deleting so many files. But in her defense the instructions that Ben gives her are so vague. Just because she's been a secretary before doesn't mean she knows what your office does. He could have been more specific to give her a fighting chance.

Hadley:

I love how she so confidently sits there and types and we see what she's typing.

Sarah:

That was very funny when they cut to her screen when Ellen was looking at it.

Hadley:

She shreds some documents, struggles with the copier, has toner on her and broke a nail, which people joke about.

Sarah:

but breaking nails hurts That shit hurts Also if you've spent a lot of money on your nails. I would also just be sad and upset about that, me too.

Hadley:

Eve is being sent home, but Ellen, I thought, gave her a nice little talk where she said look, honey, we can't all succeed at everything. We each have our own talent.

Sarah:

Ellen reminds me of Miss Trenchbull from.

Hadley:

Matilda? Oh okay, I've never seen Matilda.

Sarah:

What? Oh my god, you need to watch it.

Hadley:

It's on my list. I thought she handled it well, like she was very nice to Eve.

Sarah:

Yeah, i kept expecting Ellen to be like mean. Also, she gave me gay vibes.

Hadley:

Okay. So when she wanted to impress someone at work and then Eve gave her a makeover and then the woman walked in and was like Ellen, is that you? I was like, oh, is this who you were trying to impress?

Sarah:

But it wasn't. I wish God. When Ellen said there was a man at work she wanted to impress, i was shocked. I was like, excuse me, a man I mean Ellen would slay with the ladies even without the makeover.

Hadley:

And based off of who her eyes are set on, she'd probably be happier too. Yeah, casey goes to the toy store and learns that all the Eve dolls have a unique number on their foot. That never comes off, but that number looks like it's on a piece of masking tape on the bottom of the foot.

Sarah:

It does not look like it's permanent. No, it looks like it is easily removable.

Hadley:

I'm really hoping that all of these shoddy things in the background are because they spent a lot of money on Tyra Banks's wardrobe, because she had a great wardrobe and Disney has dollars, so it seems like you could have written on the bottom of a doll's foot.

Sarah:

At the office party Eve, arrives with Richie and immediately be lines for the snack buffet.

Hadley:

Same.

Sarah:

Same.

Hadley:

That's the best part to me of events.

Sarah:

Literally.

Hadley:

It's like what's the food going to be?

Sarah:

She's probably enjoying all of her senses that she didn't have as a doll We know she's already obsessed with. But also taste, She was going hey, I'm on that bread and butter. Imagine what else she would love.

Hadley:

I feel like the Aladdin, a whole new world song, works well for her, or at least that one part.

Sarah:

Yes, she calls a couple Mr and Mrs, boring to their faces.

Hadley:

She doesn't pick up that one. Richie calls them that. That's not their real name, Which again a doll. She doesn't know that.

Sarah:

They ask what she does for work and she says it depends on what outfit she's wearing.

Hadley:

That was wonderful.

Sarah:

When Eve asks Ben to dance, she struggles at first, but then all of a sudden is an amazing dancer.

Hadley:

I know That's in my notes. I was like she learns how to dance really fast.

Sarah:

If she's that good at learning things quickly and picking up new skills, I feel like she would have done better at work. She doesn't know how to read.

Hadley:

We do know that, oh yeah.

Sarah:

It gets brought up a few times.

Hadley:

But she might have picked it up quickly. So Richie is really creepy towards Eve and she says did you know, i'm anatomically correct? And he's like, yeah, that's usually how I like people. And then she slaps him for being forward until some he can just be himself. I feel like she's trying to redeem a character that we don't need a redemption arc for, but then, when the band says they'll take requests, she gets up and she sings her song.

Sarah:

And gets everybody to participate.

Hadley:

In my notes at this point I was like this movie is ridiculous, but it's so fun.

Sarah:

After even Ben danced, ben was fawning all over her because she makes him forget all of his troubles, his words. In my notes I was like is Eve a manic pixie dream girl?

Hadley:

Maybe she is. I think she qualifies. Could she be a manic Barbie dream girl?

Sarah:

Manic pixie dream Barbie. Manic pixie dream doll. Her response, though, is life should be fun, and I agree. I do too The comment that Richie makes. She says Ben is such a nice guy. She says too nice, if you were staying at my house I wouldn't let you out. Like him, being nice to Ellen and asking her to dance does not cancel out the creepy things. He says Nope, not at all, and Ellen can do better.

Hadley:

Oh, absolutely. Also, what's your threshold level of nice, if your version of nice is like not imprisoning them?

Sarah:

Possessiveness isn't cute, Richie.

Hadley:

No, back at home, ben walks Eve to the guest house and she says oh look, real stars.

Sarah:

How is he not questioning anything that she says?

Hadley:

There are so many things that it's like Also she's singing a song about herself. There's so many things to question. He's got his little love goggles on. I guess Also your daughter has already told you she's a doll brought to life. Peace it together.

Sarah:

They're about to kiss when Casey interrupts. Casey says she hates her dad And has a full on breakdown. She snaps at her teammate the next day for messing up and gets benched for calling him a wienerhead. Can't say I've ever heard that before.

Hadley:

No I haven't either.

Sarah:

Eve shows up to the practice In her lime green outfit.

Hadley:

Oh, it's so cute with her little scalloped yellow dress poking up from underneath. Eve says she knows how to be human. Casey talks about how quickly she lost her mom And I'm really impressed that Eve knows what to say about how no one could ever replace her mom. She seems very supportive in ways. I'm very impressed by.

Sarah:

I was very impressed with how Eve handled this. She did such a good job validating Casey. I was like let me just take some notes here.

Hadley:

Eve should lead how to interact with humans classes. Yes, Back at Ben's work. Drew brings up Eve's past employment.

Sarah:

She brings up her concerns but then discounts those concerns which are valid, by the way, by saying she's just jealous.

Hadley:

Yes, okay, i have a lot of thoughts about the dad in this scene. First off, why doesn't that career record that Eve has? raise a red light to you Yeah, what she looks like. She's like what 25 and she's done all these things. Mm-hmm, questionable. Also, when Drew's leaving, instead of acknowledging anything she's said, he says Drew, it's nice to know you're jealous. I'm like what?

Sarah:

Ew.

Hadley:

What a dumb thing to say.

Sarah:

That was not the point of this whole conversation, ben No what about?

Hadley:

hey, thanks for looking out for me and my daughter, or thanks for bringing this to my attention, or don't worry about it, drew. But no, it's nice to know you're jealous, ben. you're so dumb.

Sarah:

Eve can't find her cookbook, so she decides to improvise, and Casey comes home to a fire.

Hadley:

Yep and Eve's like I've been a forest ranger. It's like oh, have any of your skills so far actually helped you? You're not wearing your forest ranger outfit, eve, you can't do this. They bond Because they're both covered in fire extinguisher fluff.

Sarah:

And then they're brushing each other's hair and bonding some more.

Hadley:

Oh, and Eve says no one wants to buy her anymore. And then in my notes I wrote so Casey helps her rebrand. She says her mom said it's not about being the best, it's about trying your best.

Sarah:

That's cute.

Hadley:

And Eve. I felt like it was a very warm way of telling Casey that she's pushing people away and says that she's got to give people a chance to understand.

Sarah:

Love that Eve is giving great advice.

Hadley:

I know If she'd stuck around, I think it would have been fantastic for them. But she has to go save her company. somehow, by turning into a doll and going back into her world she'll save her brand. I don't know.

Sarah:

I feel like that's gonna be like a really similar storyline in Barbie, from the trailer that I've seen.

Hadley:

I haven't watched a lot of Barbie trailers, but most recently I have seen the pictures of where they get arrested. I'm like, oh okay, this will be interesting. It'll be like what this movie would have been if it weren't on Disney Channel.

Sarah:

I'm actually very impressed, though, that Disney Channel made essentially a Barbie movie, but with a black main character.

Hadley:

I know I was reading about that and they talked about how the black main character and interracial relationship props to you, Disney.

Sarah:

Honestly very surprising coming from Disney and their very racist history.

Hadley:

After Eve's given Casey her little talk and Casey goes to sleep. Eve and Ben are talking in the hallway and Eve tells Ben how amazing Casey is at football and encourages Ben to go to a game.

Sarah:

I wrote that Eve guilt trips Ben about going to Casey's games as she should. I'm in support of it.

Hadley:

On the game day, eve sees the news that her doll might get canceled, and we find out. Casey doesn't want to turn Eve back into a doll. When Casey's football team runs out onto the field before the championship, lindsay Lohan's actual siblings are in the stands cheering her on. I don't know what they look like so I couldn't figure out where they were, but they're there Michael, ally and Dakota.

Sarah:

You don't know, ally Lohan.

Hadley:

No, maybe I do No.

Sarah:

I think she was a singer. She was trying to be that Ashley Simpson to Lindsay Lohan's Jessica Simpson.

Hadley:

Interesting.

Sarah:

Ben's meeting is running late, but he skips it to go to Casey's game.

Hadley:

Casey's the quarterback. When her dad shows up and yells go Casey. He distracts her and she gets tackled.

Sarah:

Eve picks up the second book and then goes to the game to say goodbye. Casey's team loses, but she was just glad her dad was there.

Hadley:

And they hug on the field and Eve cries. She got to experience another sensation. They find out she's left because the mom of the kid that Casey called a wiener had said that Eve said she found the book and found someone to read it to her and she was going back to Sunnyvale. So she still can't read, but that's okay, she won't need to where she's going. That sounds really dark.

Sarah:

She's a doll. Casey and Ben go to stop her and then finally realizes she's a doll.

Hadley:

Like I don't even know. This feels like a very man thing, like oh you told me she was a doll, oh, she's a doll. They get out of the car at Sunnyvale, which is the headquarters for this toy company, and the dad says, can you tell me what's going on?

Sarah:

And it's like Casey already told you what was going on. I like the beginning of the movie.

Hadley:

Yes, you've known for a long time Ben. They find Eve and Casey says that they love her and that she can't just leave Because Casey needs Eve, but Sunnyvale also needs Eve, so she can help other little girls. Eve thinks that she can make doll Eve more relatable from what she learned about being human.

Hadley:

And she turns back into a doll. But now the new Eve dolls are selling out like crazy. They'll line around the store for them. Casey goes to hang out with her old friends and they just accept her right back in, which I thought was really sweet. Yes, drew shows up, we find out Ben made partner And then they have a whole dance number because it's Disney Channel in the 2000s back at the studio And I had a lot of thoughts about this dance number, mostly just that Eve is in her last scene outfit, ben and Casey are in outfits we've never seen them in before. Richie and Drew show up and they're in the outfits from the party night. What's happening? It was a cute movie.

Sarah:

Very cute. I am so excited to watch Barbie and see how much their stories overlap.

Hadley:

Me too. I think it was so smart that you put these two back to back, because this feels like it kind of in my head was the stepping stone for the Barbie movie. I think it's kind of cool that there are at least two movies now about dolls coming to life and interacting in the human world that aren't like Annabelle and stuff, which it's a different story, or Chucky Oh right, i forgot about him.

Sarah:

Oh my god. So apparently there are like seven or eight Chucky movies. Didn't know that. First of all, i only saw like the first and second one when I was a kid and they scared the shit out of me because I had American Girl dolls. So I'd have to lock up my dolls at night because I was afraid they were gonna kill me. I put them in like a plastic tub and then I stacked heavy things on top of it. But anyway, i recently watched Seed of Chucky, because Chucky and his Bride have a non-binary kid. Oh, but it is so campy and amazing and actually made me kind of want to watch the rest of the Chucky movies, like it was such a cute.

Hadley:

Movie Aside, from all of the murder and stuff. You know? besides that, Do you want to do what we're watching?

Sarah:

I'm watching The Bachelorette Ooh With Charity. How is it so far this season? I'm only two episodes in, but the guy she gave the first impression rose to was like immediate bad vibes, so And that's already coming true. So I think I just have a really good read on skeezy people.

Hadley:

That's not a bad radar to have.

Sarah:

It reminds me of a drywall Kyle.

Hadley:

I don't know if I know what a drywall Kyle is. Is it the Kyle who gets so angry he punches through a hole through drywall? Yeah, perfect Love. That kind of guy Angry and just takes it out on inanimate objects and people probably too. I still think they should pop them in the leaving van with a therapist.

Sarah:

I think they should have to have a psychiatric evaluation before they are allowed on this show. Because Brayden, i think is his name, who got the first impression, rose, i don't think he would have passed. Oh, because I got immediate bad vibes. What are you watching?

Hadley:

I'm rewatching Scrubs, which I love, but every time I watch an episode I'm like Sarah would hate this so much.

Sarah:

Sorry to ruin it for you.

Hadley:

Oh no, it's fine, but I will say that the side characters that they have in Scrubs, like even the people that come on for one or two episodes, are amazing. Brendan Frazier is on two episodes of Scrubs. The last episode he's in is the saddest TV episode, but it's so good. I watch it every time. He's so good in it, i love it. I'm not really watching anything new. I'm watching RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, which I think is fascinating.

Sarah:

Ooh, just want to promote to any of our Kansas City listeners. I just found out about Drag Survivor at Hamburger Marys, which is essentially RuPaul's drag race, but in person It's like a bunch of drag performers competing on each because of a different theme. It's every Thursday at 9pm at Hamburger Marys in Kansas City.

Hadley:

And as they always say on RuPaul's Drag Race, tip your drag queens. Yes, also, just go support them.

Sarah:

Oh, and another shout out for a Kansas City performer thing that I love. I've only been to one so far also, but it was a recent find for me There's a comedy burlesque drag show that happens at Barrel of the Bottoms, i think. Oh, it's hosted by BT from Casey, who is a Kansas City comedian who's like had a couple of popular videos on TikTok, like her audition for The Bachelor. Well, soon enough we'll be watching Barbie, yes, oh.

Sarah:

I can't wait. Same, we got matinee tickets for the day it comes out. Our song pairing for life size is Man, i Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain. Obviously, because Eve becomes a woman, but one of the lyrics in the song is the best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun, and Eve says life should be fun, just not wrong.
